The holiday season is near, along with holiday movies to provide some joy to many people, including junior Cece Andrews.
Andrews’ favorite movie to watch during the holiday season is “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” due to how relatable it is and the laughs that it brings each Christmas.
“It’s just really funny, and it also represents what I think holidays are like with your family when everyone’s there because it is super hectic,” Andrews said.
“National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” is the story of a man named Clark Griswold who wants to have the perfect Christmas, but his relatives and traditions cause chaos throughout the house.
One part of the movie that Andrews connects with is lighting the lights outside of the house because it reminds her of the times she’s put up lights with her family, she said.
“When we put up the Christmas lights, we all stand out in the front yard and watch them go on,” Andrews explained.
She explained that she first watched the movie when she was 12 or 13, and watching it with friends and family has become a big part of her holiday tradition, Andrews said.
Andrews loves the film because making Christmas dinner with her family is much more fun when it’s the same as the movie, she said.
“[‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation’] goes with the tradition of making a really big Christmas dinner,” Andrews said. “And then something always ends up going wrong when we make it.”
