Reggie Bush wears Adidas. Tiger Woods wears Nike. Notre Dame University wears Adidas. The Ohio State University wears Nike.
The stripes. The swoosh. Which one do you choose?
Junior Brandon Cohen chooses Nike.
Cohen said that he has grown up with Nike, and that is what makes him favor Nike over the other brands.
Also, Cohen said that he likes certain brands because he sees many professional athletes wearing them.
“[I like] Nike because all of the top athletes wear it or use it,” Cohen said. “It makes me feel like I am a top athlete when I wear it.”
Although Cohen feels that Nike’s product is the best, he said in some cases you are just paying for the swoosh.
He said he believes this because similar products are knockoff brands, and they don’t have the swoosh.
Cohen said he likes the Nike and Adidas war because it is good for the consumer. They get to pick the better brand for them, he added.
When choosing which one wins, however, “Nike takes the cake,” Cohen said.
Sophomore Zak Kolada agrees with Cohen. He chooses Nike as the better brand.
“I like Nike, because they make high quality clothing,” Kolada said. “Other brands don’t have the quality Nike has.”
However, Kolada does like Adidas shoes. He said that they don’t fall apart.
Sophomore Bess Schieber agrees with Kolada about Adidas.
“I like their clothes, and their shoes fit nicely,” Schieber said.
She also said that the Nike shoes aren’t as comfortable as the Adidas shoes.
Freshman Georgia Sutter agrees with Schieber. She chooses Adidas as being the best brand.
Like Schieber, she said that the Adidas shoes fit her the best.
However, Sutter said she does like some Nike clothing.
“[Nike] clothes are high quality,” Schieber said.
Sophomore Danny Webb feels the same way about Nike clothes.
“All their products are nicer than the other brands,” Webb said. “[I like Nike] because their football cleats are softer.”
Also, Webb said he prefers Nike shorts and favors Under Armour shirts.
Senior Margaret Raabe likes Under Armour as well.
“[Under Armour] is so sharp looking, but it is so expensive,” Raabe said.
However, she said she likes Nike just as much.
“I like [Nike’s] products,” Raabe said. “They are more national than Adidas. Also, Adidas is more sports specified. I don’t like that.”
For volleyball, Raabe chooses Mizuno, because the clothes look sharp, and the clothes and shoes are comfortable.
For his sport, junior Herb Porter said he uses the brand Brut for wrestling.
“It is comfortable [equipment],” Porter said. “[Brut] usually fits, and you can find the right size.”
Porter said he doesn’t like Adidas wrestling equipment, because it cuts people since it is made of plastic, and he finds it uncomfortable.
Porter said that he prefers Under Armour for all other sports uses.
“[I like] Under Armour because it is comfortable,” Porter said. “It protects me, and it looks good.”
Sophomore Matt MacKay also likes Under Armour.
“It is the best [brand] for any weather,” MacKay said. “[It is] available in any size and easy to find.”
MacKay doesn’t like any other brands.
“They are expensive rip-off brands,” MacKay said. “Under Armour is the original.”
