Josh Radnor, star of the CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” and a 1992 Bexley graduate, will be this year’s graduation speaker at the ceremony June 1.
Radnor has always been making people laugh, said special education teacher Kara Hardesty, who dated him in high school.
“He actually spoke [at graduation] when he was a senior,” Hardesty recalled.
Hardesty assured that Radnor’s speech will not disappoint.
Michael Nolan, senior class advisor, shared Hardesty’s vote of confidence.
Nolan said that it was fairly easy to get Radnor to speak at the ceremony; however, he credits senior class president Lucy First and treasurer Ross Darwin for doing all of the work.
First, who is now on a first name basis with Radnor, said that he asked for the money that was supposed to fund his arrival to be sent to a local charity (which is yet to be determined).
“[That was] really nice,” First said, “He’s just a really nice guy.”
Only 16 years ago, Radnor was in the exact same position as the graduating seniors, which Nolan said will really set an example for students.
“Anyone can achieve their dreams,” Nolan said.
