‘Four Christmases’

As snow starts to fall and the temperature drops, the holiday season becomes a great time to go inside, crank the heat and watch a Christmas movie. For senior Libby Schottenstein, the holiday season begins when her family watches the movie “Four Christmases” as part of her favorite holiday tradition.

According to the Internet Movie Database, “Four Christmases” tells the story of high power San Francisco couple, Brad (Vince Vuaghn) and Kate (Reese Witherspoon). Both come from divorced families and, as a result, they plan a vacation every year during Christmas to avoid family gatherings. On the third Christmas of their relationship, their flight is cancelled and they are forced to spend the holidays with their four different parents that leads to realizations that drastically affect their relationship.

Schottenstein explained that she will be watching the movie this winter with her family, a tradition that her family has known and enjoyed for many years. 

“My siblings and I enjoy watching the movie over winter break during the holidays while eating homemade chocolate chip cookies,” Schottenstein said.

Schottenstein explained that her family’s tradition started a few years ago when her mom wanted to start a family movie night around Christmas time. 

“We have been doing this for about three years now, and we look forward to it every year,” Schottenstein said. 

She said that her favorite part of the movie is when Kate is in the bouncy house with the kids. 

“I love how the movie constantly gets hectic and you just can’t stop watching,” she said. “The family is so crazy, and they’re always getting themselves in frantic situations.” 

Schottenstein explained that the movie is very humorous and entertaining to watch and that she and her family love watching this movie because it gets them in the holiday mood and also relieves stress. 

“The best part of the whole tradition is really getting to spend time with my family because we all are pretty busy, and it is hard to find family time,” Schottenstein said.
