Ariana Grande’s new single “yes, and?” has fans raving about the meaning of the song after she took a long break from music, not releasing an album for three years.
After listening to it, the song does not stray far from her typical pop style, but the sound is captivating. The lyrics are about calling out her haters and addressing rumors that have been said about her. Grande used the criticism as inspiration for her music.
There was speculation concerning the music video and the references she put in it. In certain clips, there are statues that represent her past albums and a potential future album, leaving fans wondering what type of music the album will include.
It was exciting to see her do eye-catching choreography like in the music video for her 2019 single “thank u, next.” Her music videos and songs are always well-produced and meaningful, making fans feel like they’re watching a movie.
Although Grande succeeded in creating another hit, it doesn’t live up to “thank u, next,” which had people talking about the “Mean Girls” references and her past lovers she mentioned in the song.
“yes, and?” was a great way to reintroduce her back into the music world as she works on her next album. For better and for worse, “yes, and?” sticks to Grande’s tried-and-true style.
Artists these days constantly change up their music and even their appearance to keep everyone interested and involved, but I don’t see her doing that.
Instead of keeping her iconic ponytail and simply dying it blonde, she could refresh her brand by exploring different hairstyles and therefore establishing a new look. Changing up her appearance will help listeners stay intrigued even while she’s not actively releasing music.
It’s exciting to see her back in the spotlight after not releasing an album since 2021, and I know her new album is worth the wait.
Hopefully they’re not only catchy but something we have yet to hear from her before. Then it will allow even new listeners to enjoy her music and relate to it.
