Freshman Gavi Zelkowicz recites “Partners” by Alice Duer Miller at the annual school Poetry Out Loud contest Monday, Jan. 12. Sophomore Zeke Moses won first place, but runner-up Zelkowicz represented Bexley at regionals Feb. 5 because Moses had a scheduling conflict with the high school musical. The event featured student recitations of poems from the Poetry Out Loud collection and was judged by a panel of English teachers. Five students competed in the contest. The other competitors were junior Brianna Dekle, sophomore Lily Macdonald and freshman Vivien Luckshaw. The competition was organized by librarian Mike Nolan, and student volunteers assisted as well.
