Between a backstabbing friend and a stained tuxedo, social studies teacher Michael Featherstone has had a few unique prom experiences.
For his junior prom, Featherstone said he wanted to ask a girl but asked a friend for help because he was nervous.
“He gave me what I thought was really good advice,” Featherstone said.
When he went to ask the girl to prom, he explained, it did not go as planned. After he asked the girl, she explained Featherstone’s friend had already asked her that morning, and she
had said yes.
“[He] gave me all of this advice and then knew my timetable and turned around and asked her the next morning,” he said.
After getting rejected, Featherstone said the girl told him to go with her friend, so they ended up awkwardly going as a group of four.
At his senior prom, Featherstone said his date was a friend from another school. Because he was wearing a rented tuxedo and knew he was a messy eater, he decided to take precautions.
“I basically wore a gigantic bib during dinner,” Featherstone said.
Even though people were judging him, he explained wearing it was worth keeping his shirt clean.
“The meal ends and there’s not a thing on the napkin, not even a speck,” he said. “I take the napkin off and there’s a gigantic pasta spot on my white tuxedo shirt.”
Because it was a rented tuxedo, he had to pay a fee to get the stain specially cleaned before returning it, he explained.
Even though dinner was embarrassing, Featherstone said he enjoyed his senior prom.
