The Bexley Gridiron Club has launched a new digital newsletter for the 2025-26 football season, featuring stories by student reporters covering high school, middle school and youth teams.
Volunteer content coordinator Rachel Stukey said the Bexley Gridiron Club will publish 11 weekly editions this fall, with a final recap edition at the end of the football season.
She explained readers can access each edition by subscribing, and editions are published Saturdays at 9 p.m.
Stukey said the Bexley Gridiron Club, which is a non-profit organization to supplement the cost of football equipment such as helmets and shoulder pads, also funds the newsletters with the assistance of local businesses who are presented the opportunity by the club.
The club, which is not affiliated with Bexley City Schools, is run by parents in the football program, Stukey added.
She said the weekly newsletter has been a huge success so far and support increases each week.
“As new sponsors are getting more interested in the newsletter every week, it really engages the entire football community,” Stukey explained.
Head coach Mike Kerr said he contributes to the newsletter by reviewing content and publishing video highlights from Hudl.
Kerr said his extended family receives the newsletter and is able to keep up with the football team and what they are achieving throughout the year, which he appreciates.
Assistant coach Carleton McGrady, who provides the publication with statistics and game highlights for both the JV and varsity teams, said he believes the newsletter should be expanded into other sports.
“Other sports like volleyball don’t get much exposure,” McGrady said. “All teams would benefit from a newsletter like ours in the high school.”
Kerr added the newsletter provides community members with insights into the players’ activities throughout the season.
“It allows the community the opportunity to see the players’ achievements and the players a chance to see their own progress,” he said.
Kerr said he hopes the football newsletters will continue being produced, as they are a good way to promote the team and get recognition for the program.
Junior and football player Declan Feldmann said he believes the newsletter has helped the football community stay aware of how the team is doing, and he appreciates having a record of stats and key moments from the season.
“I think the publication will give us more motivation to work harder and win more games,” Feldmann said.
Senior Carson Wolf said he hopes the newsletter will continue to motivate the team in future seasons.
Wolf explained each senior gets a free football yearbook at the end of the season, created by Story of the Season.
“It will be cool to look back at this year in the future and be able to see what great things we did,” he said.
