In fourth grade, junior Peri Lichenstiger wore an intricate and spooky “Corpse Bride” Halloween costume that she spent over a month carefully crafting.
Lichenstiger said the idea came to her when she and her mom were thrifting and found an old wedding dress. Her mom tailored the dress to fit her, and the two of them made a trip to Joann Fabrics to get accessories, she explained.
“We got a pearl necklace, gloves and fake flowers,” she said.
Lichenstiger said that lots of time would go into layering her clothes to stay warm.
“We would spend the most time trying to layer other clothes for warmth but still have it match the costume,” she added.
Lichenstiger said her mom also used special effect makeup to achieve the spooky look, and she and her mom layered the makeup until the look was perfect.
When trick or treating, Lichenstiger said she received many compliments on her costume and was excited to see that others liked her costume as much as she did.
“It was definitely a favorite costume of mine,” she added.
