Juniors Henry Lessard and Mallory Lowe have both committed to pursue Division I careers in athletics. Lessard will play tennis at Northwestern University and Lowe will play lacrosse at the College of the Holy Cross.
Lowe said she was drawn to Holy Cross’s program for a number of reasons, including the coaching staff and the campus Atmosphere.
She said Holy Cross had expressed interest in her since the beginning of her recruitment process, which made it appealing to her.
“There are only five 2027 commits to Holy Cross so far,” Lowe said. “I’m looking forward to getting to know them better.”
Lessard explained the hardest part of his recruitment process was the amount of pressure he put on himself to make the right decision.
“I felt like I had to hold myself to really high standards, and I didn’t want to disappoint myself or anyone else,” he said.
Lowe explained a difficulty during the recruitment process was weighing opportunities from different schools.
“Ultimately, the academics were the best at Holy Cross, and their lacrosse program was more developed than any other school I was looking at,” she said.
Lessard said he also received offers from Ohio State, Harvard, Dartmouth and Cornell.
“Northwestern was overall the best mix of athletics and academics, while also being in the Big Ten Conference, which has great competition,” Lessard explained.
Lowe explained the recruitment process kept her busy over the summer because she had to attend lacrosse camps or tournaments almost every weekend in June and July.
“It was difficult to balance lacrosse while also playing on the soccer team,” Lowe added.
Lessard said he has spent a lot of time on visits and at tournaments, which has made it difficult to balance his schoolwork and social life, he said.
“It’s hard because I had to change my class schedule to make it to tennis, and sometimes I don’t have time for homework,” he added.

Lessard said he has always wanted to play tennis in college but was especially convinced after his back-to-back state championship wins.
Lowe said she has wanted to play lacrosse in college since her freshman year and is grateful to have the opportunity to continue playing the sport she loves.
“I’m glad I get to meet and play with new people and build relationships that I hope will last my whole life,” she said.
Lowe explained her recruiting began in November of her sophomore year, but she wasn’t able to communicate with coaches until Sept. 1, when she immediately got in contact with Holy Cross.
“I visited Holy Cross’s campus and fell in love with the area and athletic complexes,” she said.
Lowe added she received amazing support from her coaches and teammates at Holy Cross during the entire recruitment process.
“My conversations with the coaches made me feel wanted in the program,” she said.
Lessard said he has built a great relationship with Northwestern’s head coach since they met.
“He’s a great guy, so I’m excited to get to know him and my teammates better,” he said. “Everyone that I’ve met so far has been super nice, and I’m looking forward to building stronger relationships.”
Lessard said he is thankful for support from his family, friends, teammates and coaches.
“My best advice to any athlete is to work the hardest on the days you feel the worst and you really don’t want to,” he added. “That’s when it really counts.”
